God is doing something in Somotillo

I need your prayers. God has opened a door for me to showing Facing the Gaints movie for over 200 youth tomorrow night.

It will be a nice chance to show them a movie and then share the Gospel with them.

The Pastor here wants me to talk to the boys and that is not normal for me but I agree it showed be me so I need your prayers that the Holy Spirit will speak through me and many lives will be changed by the words from my heart.

The local church here has been fasting all day and praying for the outcome of this meeting but I am asking specifically for prayer for me. It is not normal for me to do this and I am already nervous. I am willing to do what ever God wants but preaching is not my call. Talking to them I can do but want to make sure I have the right words.

God is already doing great things on this trip. He has opened the doors for me to do many more projects here in Somotillo. Today I meet with a lot of teenagers and found there are many things to do there in order to keep them focused on the Lord. I am very excited about the coming year.

Tomorrow I will be taking the kids shopping for the school clothes. They are so excited. They have such great appreciation to everyone. On mother told me she will get up at 4am to make sure she is ready. It was so sweet. They have great hearts and are doing so well.  I also bought them bibles and they acted like I had given them a million dollars.

I am so thankful to be here and for your help to carry out what I am doing. Tomorrow will be the busiest day this week so pray for my strength. It is very very hot this time and should not be. I have had a headache each day from the heat. I am even drinking tons of water and it is not working.

I can´t wait to tell you about tomorrow night. Pray for it´s success.

Until then...

Angie

Leaving in the morning.

I have been so busy the last two weeks that I have not had 10 minutes to write about my trip. I am almost all packed and ready to go with bags full of Christmas gifts for the new orphanage, irrigation systems for the 10 new families we are adding on, baby clothes and extras for a new baby girl arriving on Monday morning and tons of school supplies.

Thanks so much for everybody who has played a role in this trip. It amazes me each time I leave how many people are involved. This is not just my trip to Nicaragua. This is everyones trip that has helped and prayed for me. I just happen to be the one that gets to go.

God has been working overtime to help me this trip and I want to give him praise.

1st - I have a new GIRL translator who is sold out for Jesus and wants to work for free. Yes I said FREE. She told me it would be her way of giving to God. How sweet. I will of course pay her but she thinks she should do it for free.

2nd - My airline ticketed ended up costing $561 which is not too bad and much better than the $700 I was going to have to pay. I will be flying 3 different airlines so pray for my luggage to be where ever I am. This is very important for me because I don't want to lose any of the great stuff in my bags. No only did God give me a great ticket but he put me on an airline that only charges $55 for an oversize bag instead of $200 and trust me the bag I am taking is OVERSIZED.

3rd - I just found out that the gardens in Cebieta are at full harvest. I will hopefully get there in time to actually see RED ripe tomatoes. I can't wait to see them.

4th - I sent word that I was coming and ask what could I bring them and all they wanted was bibles. They could have asked for anything and they asked for Bibles. If that is not a testimony to what God is doing nothing is.

As always I ask that you pray over me while I am gone and my family. Terry is staying behind this trip to make sure my boys are ok. I will miss him a lot so pray for me.

Please pray for my safety and for my health as swine flu is everywhere in Nicaragua. I do not want to come home sick and have my Christmas break with the kids a horrible one.

I will write as I can and update you on my trip. Please put me on your daily prayer list. Pray takes care of everything.

Again, thanks to everyone who helped with this trip. I am going physically but you are coming with me through your donations and prayers.

God  Bless,

Angie

Lift me up please..

Hi everyone, I am trying to get my trip in December arranged and since I was still working on the translator issue I previously wrote about so I have not purchased my airline ticket.

In a matter of ONE day tickets have doubled in prices. Although I have the money to spend on the higher ticket I simply do not want to. If I spend more money on the ticket that is less than I can spend on helping God's people.

Please be in agreement with me that the fares will change and I will get a SWEET deal on a ticket soon.  The money I have for the ticket I had planned to do other things with so I really want those fares to be lowered.

I am still collecting baby clothes for a boy or a girl and still collecting school supplies. I will need all of them by at least Monday, Nov. 30th at the latest. Let me know if you have any for me.

Thanks to all of those who have already given me theirs. You will be richly blessed for your gifts to God's people.

Let's get praying guys and see what God does.

Great News...

I got a call this week from Ocar's mom and the judge had mercy on her and has OFFICIALLY released her from jail. She was so happy and ask me to say thanks to all of you who have been praying for her.

I on the other hand do not trust these people and will believe it when I see it. I do however trust the GREAT and MIGHTY God we serve.

Also, as time gets closer to December I am happy to say I only have 5 kids left that need a sponsor for school.

As the school year comes to an end for this year in November I have already been asked several times if I will be coming in December during vacations so we can get them ready for the next school year.

The kids are so excited. I told them I knew I would have them all sponsored and they needed to be praying for you guys. Each week Ceibeta (the new community) meets under a tree for church and they pray for you. They pray that you will be blessed so you can help their children. What faith....

If you have not sent me your money yet but plan on it let me know by replying to this email. I will mark your child sponsored and you can send me the money before I leave in December.

Also, please pray for my communities as they are having a severe drought. It has not rained in 3 months and water supplies are getting very low. The new plants are doing ok for now but much longer without rain and the wells will not have sufficient water to drink much less to water the plants.

God Bless all of you who have sponsored a child. YOU ROCK.. Thanks for allowing God to use you in a mighty way. You are changing peoples lives.

It is finished...

Last night and today was truly the longest two days I think I have experienced in my lifetime. I arrived in Somotillo around 4 yesterday and went straight to the home. There are no funeral homes around here and the family is responsible for everything. So Oscar was in his casket which was being held by white plastic chairs.

It was extremely hard to walk in the house and find my little buddy in a casket. I really still can´t believe this all has happen. I caught myself already thinking I can´t forget to call him on his birthday.

Things are very different here. The wake tradition in Somotillo is NOT OF GOD at all. The entire two nights that the body was here in Somotillo all the drunks of the town show up to play cards all night (literally until 6am) and expect the family to provide food and coffee.

It was so hard for me. I was angry all night long. I finally left at 2 which was actually 4 for me because I just could not stay up any longer and condone what was going on.

It is a part of their tradition and expected when someone dies. Sad, so sad...

This morning I was so tired I almost overslept and missed the church service. The family walks the body to the church. Carrying it on the shoulders of who ever wants. The church was at least a mile from the house and it was about 105 degrees. I helped carry him almost half way. I just could not let those drunks carry my little buddy.

Once in the church a priest gave a very good service and then to the cemetery we went. The father and grandfather had worked all day on Sunday preparing the grave.  The actual burial was also very odd. They are responsible for covering him and putting blocks and cement on the top. We waited for a long time as they mixed concrete and added blocks to cover the top.

We are such a blessed country. Can you imagine having to cover your own child... It´s really hard, trust me.

The family is doing as good as expected. Going on hardly any sleep and just dealing with the shock has made everyone extremely tired and wore out emotionally and physically.

The entire family ask that I tell each of you how much they appreciate all the prayers and support you have given them. They are very thankful for everything. I told them about the raffle we had for Oscar and they just could not believe that 1300 tickets were sold on behalf of Oscar, a total stranger.

I made sure they knew he is no stranger to you.

I have been asked several times how much did the funeral end of costing and to be honest I am not finished paying just yet but as of tonight it is around $350. That barely gets us an hour at a funeral home in the US.

I am amazed at the outpouring of prayers I have received during this process. Please continue to pray for the family as  on Friday, Francisca is to report back to prison. The Attorney General has over ruled the judge who freed her. She is still in pain from the operation and we are hoping to get an extension to buy her some time. Pray for healing in her side also.

Join with me in praise that Oscar is in pain no more. I am so glad I came because I needed this closure. It was a big financial burden but I am trusting God to take care of it.

I leave  back to Managua tomorrow and will fly home Wednesday morning. Please pray for me as I am flying standby and really need to get home early on Wednesday so I can help Terry in a corporate event he is shooting photos for.

Again, thanks to all.....

Angie
