September/October/November Newsletter

I am finding that sending out a newsletter when needed or per quarter is a more manageable goal for me so if you thought I had disappeared I promise I haven't. I find that my email is full of things I don't have time to read so I wanted to make sure I don't add to that problem in your inbox and you will actually take time to read this if it only comes ever so often.

In August I was blessed to visit my community again and see all the families and kids. We had a great time and all the families were blessed by many things. It probably felt like it was their birthday and Christmas all rolled into one.

I am changing my format on the newsletters to be more specific so you can read only the parts you want to read easier.

Operation Education 2016 - we now have over 120 kids in the program for this year. Each of them are finishing their current grade in less than a month and will be off until the week of Valentines Day. They will be receiving there new school clothes, shoes and backpacks in December. Check out the pictures and see if you can see your sponsored child. If you sponsored kids from the orphanage I was not able to post those photos.

Baseball Equipment Distribution - I was blessed with lots of baseball equipment that I gave the adult team I sponsor and the kids team. They were in heaven receiving the new Jerseys, hats, cleats, bats and pants.

Thanks so much Kelly for donating all the awesome things. Even the school that the kids attend receiving equipment for the kids to use during recess.

On my next trip the kids will receive soccer clothes and shorts donated by Castanea Presbyterian Church soccer organization (Thanks Lisa). They are going to have more "new to them" clothes this year than they have ever had. They love the jersey type shirts.

New Clothes for the Women and Teens - thanks to an awesome sponsor who sows into this ministry I was able to buy new shirts from Walmart for $1 each. Most of them were the Danskins which are excellent for the weather there. Each family received at least 3 shirts each. They love receiving new things.

It's Feeding Time - each time I go the Lord provides for me to help the families with bags of food. This food can last them up to a month depending on the family size. It's around $20. The cost of ordering pizza once or even a trip to McDonald's once feeds them every day for a month. If you would like to contribute toward this project, please do. I have 72 families to feed.

My Nica Kids - most of you know that I have been working at an orphanage since I started going to Nicaragua in 2004. I have stayed close to 5 of the kids from the original orphanage called the House of Rose that closed in 2008. Those kids are very close to my heart. I love them like my own and I am sad to say that in December during my trip I will have to say Goodbye to my kids. One of them left in August to live with an aunt and this caused a great deal of problems for everyone. These 5 kids are all cousins. A set of 3 sisters and another set of 2. Once the first sister left the orphanage to live with the aunt, the aunts sister who is the mom of the set of 2 sisters "all the sudden" decided she wanted her girls back also. These kids are 12 and 15 years old. They have lived in an an orphanage since they were little and they don't even know their mom. These families are not ready to handle the emotional problems that these kids bring. It will be overwhelming to everyone, especially the kids. I am not ready to lose the girls. For years we were told they would never leave so in my mind I have planned on them going to college and then getting married, not leaving to a place I may not be able to find them again so soon. Please pray for my emotional state. I don't want them to see me upset and I have tears flowing just writing this to you and thinking about them and what they are about to experience. My heart is broke. I just want the best for them and I am not sure this is the best. I know there is nothing I can do but trust God. I know that he is more than capable of taking care of the girls. It's the humans I am worried about, not Him.

Headed down South - I will be leaving on December 6th with two other team members so I would like to ask for prayer to cover us while we are there and my family I will leave behind. I am blessed to have Terry go with me again this year so I should have nice pictures again.

I will be able to see the elementary kids graduate from kindergarten and middle school but I will miss the high school graduation. There are 3 high school students graduating, 5 middle school kids and 4 kindergarten kids. I hope to have a celebration for all of them of some kind. Probably ice cream or something.

For those who SPONSOR kids with Operation Education, please note that if you would like to send them a financial blessing to help with food or bless them for Christmas please send it to me no later than the last day of this month, NOVEMBER 30th with instructions on how to apply the money. If you can't help with buying food please at least send a note or a card or something to let them know you are praying for them. Getting a letter from you is the highlight of my visit. Each kids sits hoping their name will be called. I imagine it's the same when our military is away from home and they too can't wait to hear from family. Speaking of the military, Happy Veteran's Day. Thank you for your service.

The 2016 Operation Education is in full swing and needs your help. There are 23 kids left to be sponsored.

The kids without pictures are the kids from the orphanage I support and I am not allow to show there individual pictures. Here is a group picture of them that I can show. Not all the kids in this picture are still at the orphanage.

This is the first year I have been able to include them on my list of kids so I am excited to know they will have help getting their uniforms since this year has been brutally hard on the orphanage because their funding is over $2500 less per month than normal.

In addition to them there are around 13 kids from the comunity also that need support.

Would you share this email with your friends and tell them about this great opportunity to bless these kids?

I need to get the word out and you are an avenue to help with that.

Operation Education 2016

It is that time of the year when I am looking for people to sponsor kids so they can attend school next year. This year I have 28 kids that still need a sponsor out of the 125+ kids in the program.

The sponsorship is $35 a year. This will provide a student with a new backpack, full uniform including socks, new pair of shoes and school supplies.

In addition to the sponsorship payment there will be 3 times (in March, August and December) when you can also send in money to help provide food for the families when I am on my trips. This is an optional donation and can be of any amount. (The average amount is around $20)

If you have never sponsored a child with me this is your opportunity to bless a child like no other.

My community has the highest number of kids passing their grades and attending school. The director of the school visited me this past trip to tell me just how important this project is. He told me without our support none of the kids would be able to attend school.

Only 1 out of 3 kids get to go to school simply because they can not afford to purchase the government required uniform and shoes.

Please consider being a sponsor this year. You will be blessed and you will be blessing a wonderful child.

During the year you will receive at least 3 letters from your child so you will not only get to send them to school but you will be able to know them personally so you can pray for them.

Heading Down South in a Week

I'm so excited that by this time next week I will be on a plane to Nicaragua for 14 days. The first half will be with a team of 31 as I will be working for the ministry I work for called Ambassadors To The Nations and the second half I will be in Somotillo doing my own thing. :)

Please be in prayer for this trip as I am leaving my husband who has been down in his back for 3 weeks. He is having a lot of pain and needs help so I his healing to come forth before I leave so I can rest that he is taken care of.

Also pray that the hearts of everyone will be open to hear once again how much God loves them. Each trip my prayer is that this trip will be the one that changes someone's life.

If you sponsor a child with Operation Education your letters to your kids were due already. Please get them in as I have received only a handful. I have never been in the army but I have heard stories of men who counted every minute to hear them name being called when the mail arrived, its like that in my community. The kids are always hoping they have received a letter from you. It does not have to be a huge letter. Just a word to encourage them and tell them God loves them. Please send it ASAP if you can. You can email it if you have to.

There is still time to help with the food and the Chicken farm if you had planned on donating toward that. I still need a lot toward the food and about $100 toward the Chicken farm.

July 2015 Newsletter

Happy 4th of July to all of you. It is great that today we can celebrate our freedom. Some days I wonder how long it will be until the freedoms we have will no longer be. This is a time that all of us need to be in prayer for our country. Things have slowed down a little for me this past month and I'm glad because I need the rest since I will be headed to Nicaragua for 14 days at the end of the month. I will leave with my first team on July 31st and on the 7th after I send them home, myself, my son Logan and 3 other friends will travel to Somotillo to see my families. It will be a long trip but will be worth every minute of it.

It is time to get new pictures and register the Operation Education kids for the next school year. I currently have 106 kids in the program and I'm excited to say as of now they are all still in school this year. So many kids start the year off and quit before the year ends because of a lack of funds or they need to work to support the family. I am so glad our kids are not forced to do that.

As always there will be opportunity to sponsor one of my kids. Usually I have repeat sponsors so I end up with around 20-25 that will need a sponsor. The cost will still be $35 this year. This covers their school uniforms, a backpack, shoes and school supplies. Please keep your eyes out for the newsletter letting you know they are available. If you already sponsor a child you also will need to let me know if you are going to continue sponsoring your child. If I do not hear from you by the middle of August I will assume you are not going to re-sponsor your child/children and they will be put on the website for sponsorship.***Those of you who usually tell me at Camp Meeting you want to renew need to tell me also by Mid August. I can't wait until Camp meeting this year to find out***

I sent out an email about different projects going on in the community. Those needs still exist except for the Hotel. Thanks to a generous partner that need has been met.

The 2 remaining needs are:

$350 to sponsor a chicken farm for the community. This trip every family will receive several pounds of chicken per household. These families rarely get meat. Once a year if they are lucky. This project will allow them to receive free chicken each time I come as well as be able to purchase it at a very discounted rate when I am not there. This project affects 275 people in the community and will be a huge blessing to their diet.

Food for the Families - each time I go I spend up to $1100 on food for the community. This provides them with at least a months worth of food if not two months depending on the household size. The price changes each trip that I go because just like here grocery prices change all the time. If you would like to support this project any amount would help.

If you sponsor a child and would like to help purchase a bag of food for your child's home or you would just like to be a part of this project, please send your donation to me no later than July 24th.

Sponsors if you want to send your child a letter or a gift (gift needs to be no larger than a Walmart size bag) please also have that to me no later than July 24th also.

We will be blessing the community with TONS of awesome things. I have new shirts for all the woman and teens, tons of soccer cleats and clothes for the boys, tons of baseball stuff for the kids and for a nearby school that they attend. It will take us quite a while to get organized when we do arrive. Even our new hotel is getting a new microwave and toaster oven.

I am going with great expectations that God has great plans for our team. I know he is sending us there for a reason and I can't wait to be used by him.

Please pray for us as we travel, for our families we leave behind and for the many hearts we will be reaching. Pray they will be open to the Word and open to receiving Jesus.
