Prayer Request from Pastor Arturo

I am regularly talking to Pastor Arturo by phone or by Facebook and this is his message to me today. "Ore por toda la comunidad no llueve no hay cosecha, las familias la estan pasando muy mal las cosechas se secaron por falta de lluvia."

This says, "Pray for the whole community, it  does not rain and there is no harvest, families are having a hard time the crops were dried by lack of rain."

Rainy season started in May and it has rained very little in Somotillo. It is raining all over Nicaragua but not there. Most people don't have vegetable gardens but almost every one of them have a corn field. They harvest the corn in the fall and it feeds them during the worse part of raining season which is October - December because there is no work, it also provides them an income for those who have large fields.

Without this harvest they can literally starve. They struggle day to day to have enough food so losing their corn crop would be like us not having water.  If there is no water we can't drink, make meals, wash clothes, etc. , if there is no corn they can't eat because there is absolutely no work during those months to buy food.

This is a serious situation. Pastor Arturo said it has been YEARS since they have had a drought and they of course are very unprepared for it.

I encouraged Pastor Arturo to remind the community they have authority over the weather per 20 and John 14:12 and to trust God to bring the rain.

Thanks so much for your prayers and support to my extended family.

God Bless,

Angie

May 2014 Newsletter

Can you believe it is May already. I sure can't.  Time is flying by. I just got home from Nicaragua on Thursday which was an awesome trip. I didn't go to my community this time since I was just there in March.

We had a team of 46 wonderful people with us this time. Every trip is filled with the best of the best.

This month will be very busy for me and I will need some prayer support. Here are some specific things.

1. Pastor Arturo the pastor I work with fell and hurt his back. He is having a hard time right now and has not been able to visit the community. Please agree with me for perfect healing in his body and for all symptoms to disappear NOW..

2. We are preparing for the graduation of our son Logan on the 23rd. With working two jobs for me and Terry being extremely busy its hard to fit extra things in right now. We are remodeling some rooms in our house and are concerned we will have time to get it all done before the 23rd. Pray for things to go very smooth. If you are a handyman and would like to volunteer some time we could use you.

3. Pray for my community. Pastor Arturo is my pastor I work with and he is loved by all in the community, however, he is not the pastor of the community. The Pastor is Oscar and he is moving to Costa Rica to work. This means that the church will be  assigned a new pastor. This may cause a problem because the people do not know him. We have seen great growth in this community and I do not want this to set them back. One will ask why doesn't Pastor Arturo lead the church. That's a valid question and the answer is he does not want that responsibility. He loves going there and ministering one on one, house by house. He is actually the reason people go to church to begin with. Pray that the right person will be chosen to lead them and that person will get involved and make a good connection with the men.

4. Pray for the men of the community. In March I had 65 men attend a meeting with me and I don't want that to change. Pray they will continue meeting with Pastor Arturo and growing in the Word and having the desire to have a relationship with the Lord. This is key to changing the community. If the men change, the women and kids will change.

5. On a personal note I would like to ask for prayer for my family. We are experiencing a great deal of stress and frustration dealing with Francis. She has been here for 2 1/2 years and there are so many struggles in her life. I can't go into details but I can tell you it is severe and overwhelming to us. The stress can be overwhelming some times but we keep pressing on and know what God is in control. She needs a lot of healing in her heart and her mind. Her life here is much better for her than the orphanage but in her mind its not. She suffers from several disorders and those keep her from realizing how much better off she is. Pray healing will come forth for all of us. It's been really hard the last couple of months.

6. Yard Sale time.. I need your stuff.. I am not getting much from people and I don't have enough to have the sale yet. I need to raise money for my Logan to go with me in August and for other ministry needs. I would like to bless Pastor Arturo with some extra money this month since he has been out of work due to his back. If you have things you want to get rid of I need them as soon as you can get them to me. Once I have enough I will have the sale. Pray for an abundance of good things. Clothes just don't sale. I need big ticket items.

I was blessed last Sunday to speak to the children's ministry at Castanea Presbyterian Church. It was a great meting and I look forward to partnering with their church to do more for the Kingdom. It was a blessing to share my ministry with them.

I don't have much coming up for June or July but would love the opportunity to share at your class or church so let me know if you have a need for a guest speaker.

Thanks as always for your support and your prayers. I could not do this without you.

God Bless,

Earthquake Information - Prayers Needed

Just in case you have not heard, Nicaragua is experiencing tons of earthquakes. Since Friday alone they have had 19 earthquakes ranging from 2.2 to 6.8. A week before this they had 3 major ones in 24 hours and over 400 report tremors also.

I am happy to say that none of this has affected the region I work in with my ministry, however, it has affected the areas I work in with my job.

1,000's of houses have been hurt or destroyed and hundreds of people have been reported injured.

I leave on Thursday with a team of 46. Please pray that we can minister to those living in fear as well as those who have been affected.

The country has been on red alert for a week now.  Companies are closed as well as schools. Things are suppose to get back to normal this week because in addition to the earthquakes it was Holy Week and things are typically not normal anyway.

The biggest problem people are experiencing is the lack of work. People in this region only make enough money per day to feed their families, with no work there is no money to buy food and this causes a great deal of fear and stress not to mention if they have had any damage from the earthquakes.

Please pray for our team as we prepare to give them an answer to their problems and their fear. Hope in Jesus.

I will be gone from April 24 - May 1st. Thanks in advance for your prayers.

Also, please pray for a lady named Virginia. She lives in my community and was rushed to the hospital yesterday. I am still waiting to hear what is going on.

God Bless,

Angie

April 2014 Newsletter

2014 has started off great. I can't wait to see all that the Lord has planned for this year. I traveled to Nicaragua on March 5th with my job, Ambassadors To The Nations. We had a team of 42 people and it was a great time together.  We served together for 7 days and ministered to 1,000's of kids and hundreds of adults.  It is always and awesome time serving the Lord with the teams that come with ATTN.

On the last day we were together my friend Gwen flew in, and along with one of the ATTN team members Aileen, we left and traveled to Somotillo for the next 7 days.

This trip was extremely hot for March but we pressed on and God used us in a mighty way.

Since pictures tell the story better than I do, I have posted my pictures along with the story.

Our first day in my community we had a Women's Meeting. Over 60 women came and we were blessed by them more than we blessed them. To read more and see the pictures click HERE.

Later in the day we had our first Men's Meeting since the 17 men accepted the Lord in December. It was awesome. There were over 65 men there. I still can't believe they all came.  Read More HERE.

We had movie night with the kids again but I don't have any pictures to show you. Unfortunately it's just too dark there to see all the kids. We had 95% of the community show up for the movie. That's the most we have ever had. Glad we bought 12 gallons of ice cream. Love hearing the kids laugh and even the grown ups. Always looking for new movie ideas so let me know if you have one that is in Spanish and is hilarious. They love movie night.

On Saturday and Sunday we had one the coolest times ever in the community. We went to the BEACH.. yes on my mission trips I really suffer.. Read more about our exciting days at the beach. Click HERE.

Most of you know I played sports my entire childhood and most of my adult life so getting me involved in sports in Nicaragua is not hard to do.  I heard that some of my kids had started a baseball team in the community and was playing with no uniforms and a broke bat. Needless to say I could not let that be so I got them a new jersey to use and new bats. I am expecting God to bless me with extra funds to buy them a full uniform and cleats for the future. Got to take care of my future stars.. Check out my cuties HERE..

Sunday afternoon was a very busy day. I was blessed by ATTN to ship boxes with needed supplies to my community. All the kids in Operation Education (109 kids) received new shoes and school supplies. All the kids of the community got a toy gift bag, and a new stuff animal and the women and teen girls received lotions, body sprays and fingernail polish. We included the men also and they all received new t-shirts. It was a busy time handing all the items out butt thanks to having a great team to help in Nicaragua we got it all finished. Lots of great pictures and more details HERE.

Monday was also a great day. It's Orphanage day and we had a blast. The kids got to make something sweet for the directors of the orphanage. It was a nice surprise for them. I love the all the kids there. Gwen did an excellent job with the craft they made. Thanks Gwen. You are such a talented and gifted lady. Check out the surprise HERE.

It was a very long 15 days for me but it was a great trip. We ministered and shared God's love in a way that related to them. I have been working in the community soon to be 6 years. Its awesome to see God changing their lives little by little. Having 65 men show up to a meeting with me was probably the highlight of this trip. Giving out bibles to them topped it all off.

What's coming?

It is my plan to return in August to the community and get the kids prepared for the next Operation Education. If you want to send your kids a letter I hope to be going the first week. I am working out the details now and will keep you posted.

I have many goals for this year and none of those things can be done without support from people like you. Your prayers are very important to me and help me to have the strength to continue the work in Nicaragua. Many lives are being changed. I have a personal relationship with almost every family in this community and I am seeing many come to know Jesus personally. That's the only reason I do what I do.

Testimony Time..

I want to stop and just give God praise for all He has done for me for this trip. Within weeks of this trip I didn't have enough money to meet the ministry needs that I knew I would have. I needed to order bibles but didn't have extra money for those either. I simply reminded God each day that it was not about material things that I wanted to give them and that I would give them the Word of God no matter how much money I had but to please make sure that I had enough to purchase food for them and the Bibles. It's amazing what happens when you ask God for specific things. He always delivers. Thanks to all the people who blessed me for this trip and for future trips. Thanks for being willing to be used by God. I may be the one going to Nicaragua but I could not do what I do without your support.

The money I received before I left went to pay for :

12 Gallons of Ice Cream Food for 60 families Two beds for a needy family T-shirts for the Kids Baseball Team Medicine for a baby Money to pay toward the college tuition of a student from Ceibita Blessed Pastor Arturo for working so hard in the community

Thanks so much for allowing me to serve the Lord. Thanks to all the Operation Education sponsors who bless their kids with letters and money for their families. All your prayers and financial support are truly changing peoples lives for the Kingdom of God.

Prayer Request:

Pray for my family and my health Pray for additional monthly supporters Pray for the men of the community Pray for the women of the community Pray for the kids of the community Pray for wisdom and guidance as I plan the upcoming trip Pray for fundraising opportunities to help my son Logan go to Nicaragua with me. This will be his last trip before college. Pray for people to donate items to my upcoming missions yard sale.

God Bless all of you and thanks again for your prayers.

Preparing to Leave

On Thursday I will leave for Nicaragua with 3 other people from Charlotte and I will meet 30 more people in Managua. I am blessed to work for Ambassadors To The Nations who have been working in Nicaragua since 1992. It is an honor to not only serve the Lord with missions on my own but to partner with such a great organization and have that as my JOB every day also.

On the 13th I will leave then and meet Gwen Emmett at the airport and together we will head to Somotillo to bless a lot of people.

In January I sent tons of boxes by container to bless the kids and young adults. I can't wait to visit each home and hand them out. This will be the first time they will receive care boxes from the US. No every family was able to participate but through the blessings of Ambassadors every child will get a nice box.

I need the prayer warriors of this group to start praying now for me and this trip. My health is still an issue and the ability to eat healthy in Nicaragua is not convenient. Pray I find solutions to accommodate my strict diet.  Additionally, pray for good weather, a unity among out teams and that the hearts of all the people we will minister to are open and ready to hear the Good News. Please also pray for my family as I am leaving Terry for 13 days with 3 kids and a business to run. I am so grateful I have a wonderful supportive husband.

I am excited to say I am only $300 short of being able to purchase the motorcycle for Pastor Arturo and I have raised enough money to purchase more than 30 chairs for the church and hopefully a podium for Pastor Arturo's bible. I just love blessing this man of God who sacrifices so much to bless my little community.

If you would still like to contribute toward any of the needs I sent out before there is still time. Just let me know.

I appreciate the prayers and I can't wait to give you a great report on what God's plans turn out to be.

Blessings,

Angie
