Earthquake Information - Prayers Needed

Just in case you have not heard, Nicaragua is experiencing tons of earthquakes. Since Friday alone they have had 19 earthquakes ranging from 2.2 to 6.8. A week before this they had 3 major ones in 24 hours and over 400 report tremors also.

I am happy to say that none of this has affected the region I work in with my ministry, however, it has affected the areas I work in with my job.

1,000's of houses have been hurt or destroyed and hundreds of people have been reported injured.

I leave on Thursday with a team of 46. Please pray that we can minister to those living in fear as well as those who have been affected.

The country has been on red alert for a week now.  Companies are closed as well as schools. Things are suppose to get back to normal this week because in addition to the earthquakes it was Holy Week and things are typically not normal anyway.

The biggest problem people are experiencing is the lack of work. People in this region only make enough money per day to feed their families, with no work there is no money to buy food and this causes a great deal of fear and stress not to mention if they have had any damage from the earthquakes.

Please pray for our team as we prepare to give them an answer to their problems and their fear. Hope in Jesus.

I will be gone from April 24 - May 1st. Thanks in advance for your prayers.

Also, please pray for a lady named Virginia. She lives in my community and was rushed to the hospital yesterday. I am still waiting to hear what is going on.

God Bless,

Angie

April 2014 Newsletter

2014 has started off great. I can't wait to see all that the Lord has planned for this year. I traveled to Nicaragua on March 5th with my job, Ambassadors To The Nations. We had a team of 42 people and it was a great time together.  We served together for 7 days and ministered to 1,000's of kids and hundreds of adults.  It is always and awesome time serving the Lord with the teams that come with ATTN.

On the last day we were together my friend Gwen flew in, and along with one of the ATTN team members Aileen, we left and traveled to Somotillo for the next 7 days.

This trip was extremely hot for March but we pressed on and God used us in a mighty way.

Since pictures tell the story better than I do, I have posted my pictures along with the story.

Our first day in my community we had a Women's Meeting. Over 60 women came and we were blessed by them more than we blessed them. To read more and see the pictures click HERE.

Later in the day we had our first Men's Meeting since the 17 men accepted the Lord in December. It was awesome. There were over 65 men there. I still can't believe they all came.  Read More HERE.

We had movie night with the kids again but I don't have any pictures to show you. Unfortunately it's just too dark there to see all the kids. We had 95% of the community show up for the movie. That's the most we have ever had. Glad we bought 12 gallons of ice cream. Love hearing the kids laugh and even the grown ups. Always looking for new movie ideas so let me know if you have one that is in Spanish and is hilarious. They love movie night.

On Saturday and Sunday we had one the coolest times ever in the community. We went to the BEACH.. yes on my mission trips I really suffer.. Read more about our exciting days at the beach. Click HERE.

Most of you know I played sports my entire childhood and most of my adult life so getting me involved in sports in Nicaragua is not hard to do.  I heard that some of my kids had started a baseball team in the community and was playing with no uniforms and a broke bat. Needless to say I could not let that be so I got them a new jersey to use and new bats. I am expecting God to bless me with extra funds to buy them a full uniform and cleats for the future. Got to take care of my future stars.. Check out my cuties HERE..

Sunday afternoon was a very busy day. I was blessed by ATTN to ship boxes with needed supplies to my community. All the kids in Operation Education (109 kids) received new shoes and school supplies. All the kids of the community got a toy gift bag, and a new stuff animal and the women and teen girls received lotions, body sprays and fingernail polish. We included the men also and they all received new t-shirts. It was a busy time handing all the items out butt thanks to having a great team to help in Nicaragua we got it all finished. Lots of great pictures and more details HERE.

Monday was also a great day. It's Orphanage day and we had a blast. The kids got to make something sweet for the directors of the orphanage. It was a nice surprise for them. I love the all the kids there. Gwen did an excellent job with the craft they made. Thanks Gwen. You are such a talented and gifted lady. Check out the surprise HERE.

It was a very long 15 days for me but it was a great trip. We ministered and shared God's love in a way that related to them. I have been working in the community soon to be 6 years. Its awesome to see God changing their lives little by little. Having 65 men show up to a meeting with me was probably the highlight of this trip. Giving out bibles to them topped it all off.

What's coming?

It is my plan to return in August to the community and get the kids prepared for the next Operation Education. If you want to send your kids a letter I hope to be going the first week. I am working out the details now and will keep you posted.

I have many goals for this year and none of those things can be done without support from people like you. Your prayers are very important to me and help me to have the strength to continue the work in Nicaragua. Many lives are being changed. I have a personal relationship with almost every family in this community and I am seeing many come to know Jesus personally. That's the only reason I do what I do.

Testimony Time..

I want to stop and just give God praise for all He has done for me for this trip. Within weeks of this trip I didn't have enough money to meet the ministry needs that I knew I would have. I needed to order bibles but didn't have extra money for those either. I simply reminded God each day that it was not about material things that I wanted to give them and that I would give them the Word of God no matter how much money I had but to please make sure that I had enough to purchase food for them and the Bibles. It's amazing what happens when you ask God for specific things. He always delivers. Thanks to all the people who blessed me for this trip and for future trips. Thanks for being willing to be used by God. I may be the one going to Nicaragua but I could not do what I do without your support.

The money I received before I left went to pay for :

12 Gallons of Ice Cream Food for 60 families Two beds for a needy family T-shirts for the Kids Baseball Team Medicine for a baby Money to pay toward the college tuition of a student from Ceibita Blessed Pastor Arturo for working so hard in the community

Thanks so much for allowing me to serve the Lord. Thanks to all the Operation Education sponsors who bless their kids with letters and money for their families. All your prayers and financial support are truly changing peoples lives for the Kingdom of God.

Prayer Request:

Pray for my family and my health Pray for additional monthly supporters Pray for the men of the community Pray for the women of the community Pray for the kids of the community Pray for wisdom and guidance as I plan the upcoming trip Pray for fundraising opportunities to help my son Logan go to Nicaragua with me. This will be his last trip before college. Pray for people to donate items to my upcoming missions yard sale.

God Bless all of you and thanks again for your prayers.

School Has Started

It is so exciting to know that this past week 109 kids attended their first day of this school yet. In 2009 when I first visited this community only 5 kids were going to school. Now over 100 are.

Here in the US if our kids do not attend school we can be arrested yet in Nicaragua if a child doesn't attend school no one says a word.

The future of this country rest on these kids. They will be the ones to change the country. They will be the next leaders of this country and most important they will be the future Pastors, Teachers, and Evangelists. Teaching these kids how to read will be the role of the school but teaching them God's Word falls on the hands of the parents and most of them can not read so it is very important to me to make sure these kids are learning how to read and learning the Word.

Thanks for all the sponsors who help me send these kids to school. It is a huge blessing to them and to me.

Here's the first day of school. Look at all these future leaders, teachers, presidents, managers, and children of God.

God Bless,

Angie

ps. Don't forget those of you who sponsor that if you want me to take a letter to your child I need it by March 1st.

2013 - An Amazing Year

2013 was an amazing year in the mission field. I can't begin to tell you all that God did in my life and the lives of those in Nicaragua that I work with. My December trip was probably one of the best I have ever had for several reasons. I will try to share all that happen and not write a book.

The kids of Operation Education, all 109 of them, pass their grades. This is a huge accomplishment. Most kids miss a lot of school during the year and most don't put a lot of effort into studying but not our kids. All of them take school very serious and it shows.

During my trip I blessed all of them with their new uniforms, backpacks, shoes and school supplies. I have more school supplies that I am taking to them in March. They will be well prepared for the new school year that starts in February.

My friend Sara and I were also able to bless the entire community with Christmas gifts. The women received jewelry and hygiene bags, the men received new hats and bracelets and the teenagers received jewelry also. All the kids in the community received a toy gift bag and each family received a food bag. The bag was the biggest one I have ever purchased. It contained 13lbs of beans and rice and 5 lbs of sugar, 80 bags of coffee (two cups to each bag), a liter of oil and a bag of cookies. The bag weighed so much that the women had to have help to carry it.

We also had the opportunity to bless the kids from the orphanage. There are 25 kids there and they are the joy of my life. I truly love each of them and this trip we had a special treat planned for them. A beach trip!!!!. They actually live very close to the ocean and from time to time they get to go so what better time than when I'm visiting them right? We had a lot of fun and it will be one of my greatest memories. On the night before we also took my translator and his family out to dinner. It was his birthday and we were blessed to eat at a very nice restaurant, probably the best I have ever eat at in Nicaragua.

All of these things mean a lot to me but not near as much as what happen during my first night service in our church. We just recently got electricity ran to the church giving the families and opportunity to come at night when it's much cooler. The Pastor of the church asked me to attend the service and speak to the people but as you all know I am not a preacher. I don't even like speaking in front of people other than teaching so needless to say I was not to excited but didn't want to be disrespectful.

About 30 minutes before it was time God still had not given me anything I thought he wanted me to talk about. I kept praying and reading the Word and NOTHING... By the time I reached the church I knew something was up. I was very emotional and overwhelmed yet I didn't understand why. I started praying and just ask God to use me and use me he did.

Since the Pastor told everyone I was going to be there many people attended and a lot of them were the men I have been working on for a while. All the women and children were under the church roof but all the men except for 2 were sitting farther away from the rest. I couldn't even see how many.

I started the church off with music. I thought the church needed to see how we worship here in the US. Hillsong and Kari Jobe was my selections and then some old classics like Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord. It was awesome to hear some of them singing that song.

As I began to speak to them I still didn't have a word in my heart but God surely showed up. I just started talking about my life and my testimony and how God sent someone when I was in the 10th grade to let me know how much He loved me. I told them that I am just like my friend. God has sent me there to show them how much He loves them.

I don't even know what all I said but in the end during the alter call 17 teen boys and men came forward to accept the Lord as their savior. Pastor Arturo and I could hardly contain the tears. We have both worked so hard to pierce the hearts of these men. It was took 5 long years but it was completely worth every minute of it for just this day.

Since my visit the men and many others are attending church regularly. I am so excited for their new change in life. Please pray for them as this is very new to them and this is very hard for them. Pastor Arturo is teaching them each week. I can't wait to see the ripple effect that comes from their decision.

This past year was amazing. There are so many amazing things that happen.

For Christmas my husband redesigned my website and I have posted all the pictures from the trip. I am in the process of updating it and don't have all of it done but have lots pictures for you. My blog has changed also. From now on you will get an email letting you know I have updated it and the link to see it. Anytime you are on my site you can see the most up-to-date information by reading the blog.

Check out the site and let me know how you like it. It's not completely finished but it's getting there.

As always thanks so much for supporting me. God has opened so many doors this past year I can't wait to see what happens in 2014.

God Bless,

Angie

Operation Education 2014 Deadline Approaches

October 15th is the deadline I set to have the kids sponsored by then but it soon approaches and I still have 31 kids that need a sponsor. I lost sponsors of over 25 kids this year which has made it a little hard for me to recoup but I trust God will send others to take their places.

Would you be willing to share this email with your friends? With your Bible Study group, Sunday School group?

It will be really hard for me to give out uniforms to 73 kids and not the others.

Please pray with me that doors will open and other people will help sponsor one of these wonderful kids.

For those of you who have chosen to sponsor this year please remember the money is due by October 15th. I will need to wire the money for the uniforms the next day.

It's only .10 cents a day... We waist that much..

Thanks in advance for sharing this information with your friends.
